A community Shabbat experience with sushi, a bonfire and guest speakers, Rabbi Dr. Mendy and Sara Loewenthal.

Join the East of Woodward Jewish community for Friday night Shabbat dinner with sushi, a bonfire, and a talk and singing from Rabbi Dr. Mendy and Sara Loewenthal.

Celebrate Shabbat with community, great food and a fascinating talk by this amazing couple!

About Rabbi Dr. Mendy and Sara Loewenthal:

Sara Loewenthal is a mother to 6 children, studying towards her doctorate in education, and is the Head of School at Tamim Academy in Toronto, Canada. She is the author of two children’s books, delivers teacher training workshops, and runs the weekly children’s program at her Synagogue on Saturdays.

Rabbi Dr. Mendy graduated with honors from the Melbourne institute of Rabbinical studies and served as a Chabad Rabbi and Chaplain in South Kensington, London. In an interesting twist of events, after four years of working as a Chabad Rabbi, he studied biology, and then attended medical school at the University of Toronto. Rabbi Dr. Mendy has a general family practice, practices emergency medicine, and has a special designation in Care of the Elderly. Rabbi Dr. Mendy is involved in end of life care designed for Jewish patients with sensitivity to Jewish law.
