The story of a Hidden Child of the Holocaust

What an incredible evening!

This Friday, before Shabbat, a beautiful crowd gathered to hear Miriam Ferber’s story and to celebrate Shabbat. Miriam, only seven months old, was hidden in a non-Jews home in Poland, while her family was sent to death. Only as a teenager did Miriam find out that she was Jewish! Miriam not only survived, but prospered, and together with her husband Fred, are prominent members in the Jewish community in Metro-Detroit. Miriam’s story is both incredibly inspiring and empowering!

Following her talk, there were songs of Shabbat and a delicious community Shabbat dinner!

Lag Ba'omer Pre Shabbat BBQ

Just an incredible Lag Ba'omer Pre Shabbat BBQ. Great food, amazing people and a wonderful celebration!

There was something for everyone to enjoy, whether it being a moon bounce, make your own Shabbat candle sticks and challah cover, s'mores, bonfire, music, getting to know local Jews and of course fantastic food!

Freedom Drive-Through

This event really was amazing!

Over 300 cars came to participate in a live, drive-thru production. With live actors, lighting, props and music, old and young alike, enjoyed watching in real time the Passover story!

Thank you to our very generous sponsors and partner organizations that helped make this production a reality!

Yom Kippur

What an inspirational Yom Kippur we just had! Due to the COVID-19 pandemic we held Yom Kippur services in an outdoor tent with social distancing and masks. All the prayers were extremely well attended! A huge thank you for Howard Jacobson for making this happen! (Pictures taken before the start of Yom Kippur).

Jewish Kids Club

What an incredible start to our Jewish Kids Club! Jewish kids gathered in pods, one-on-one and virtually to do some really fun projects before Rosh Hashana! There was a Shofar factory where kids got to make real Shofars, a Challah braiding activity, Shana Tovah cards for the elderly and foil art! We can't wait until next month!

Chanukah Oh Chanukah!

At Chabad Jewish Center of Troy, we were busy spreading the light of Chanukah. Didn't have a Menorah? Our volunteers gave out over 15 Menorahs in Downtown Rochester! Couldn't make it to a Chanukah party? We arranged Chanukah parties at Heartland Health Care Center, Pine Ridge Villas of Shelby Senior Living, and SKLD Bloomfield Hills.

This year, tens of people, who would of otherwise been forgotten, got touched by the light of Chanukah!
